When plans were made to build on the present site, the
congregation
felt God’s leading in a “pay as you go” approach to financing.
Construction was started in the spring of 1992 with excavation work and the
pouring of footings and a retaining wall. With the exception of hiring
a
licensed plumber all of the labor was volunteered. Many,
many
Saturdays and late evenings were expended for several years until the occupation
and dedication in fall 1997. God was faithful in the supply of resources.
Construction was never hampered for the lack of funds.
The back lighted aluminum cross, recently installed on the front of the
building, was in the original planning.
Unfortunately, it came to be one of those last finish details that was laid
aside for a while. Probably not
unlike moving into a home before construction is completed; last details are
sometimes slow to completion.
Hopefully the cross will convey this message to the Sodaville Community:
that a congregation from a variety
of
backgrounds came together in 1896 to buy a building
with
the sole purpose of establishing an outpost for the
spread
of The Gospel of Christ in this area; and that in the year 2004, we find a
continued family of believers with the same goal in mind. Our belief is that
Sodaville Evangelical Church exists to:
-
Love
God
-
Share
His Love with you
-
Reach
out with compassion
-
Apply
the Bible and prayer to real life
-
Serve
others out of our love for Christ
Please
feel free to join us in His work!
