Many of the Asian heads have cam center tapped only at one time or another. This means that they are set up to output 220V permanently instead of being able to be paralleled to put full output out at 110 V Set up in a center tap or series configuration you can only get 1/2 kw output at 110V between any of the two legs (u1or u2 ) and the common or center tap. If you run a generator like this you need to balance the load between the legs. It is very hard on the generator to pull more than 20% off only one leg. Not much if you have a small generator head like a 5 kw. There is an easy fix to this problem shown in the diagrams below.
CENTER TAPPED FOR 220 ONLY A VERY COMMON BUT FIXABLE PROBLEM

Cut off one leg at stator junction and insolate with shrink tubing.
Extend the cut off wire out of the generator. Use a crimp type solder splice and solder it properly and insolate with shrink tubing
