A Battery Charging Fool
This is my battery charging fool it is a 6.5 hp s 175 water cooled and a Motorola large frame Truck alternator. It will make 70 amps all day and night . It will serge to well over 100 A. The alternator is rated at 130A. You will notice a switch on the sled. This is so you can shut the alternator during starting to eliminate drag of the alternator trying to charge while cranking.
The best part of a large frame alternator is they put out more at low RPMs, they cool better and they have large sealed ball bearings in both ends. This is a serious alternator and would work well to charge a battery bank on a daily basis or as a solar panel backup . It is an industrial grade alternator and is widely used in the trucking industry and will give long life. Car alternators are fine but if you need to depend on it then this is the one to have.
I have these alternators in stock, New in the box. These are not seconds
My price is $260 plus shipping

Making a steady 50 Amps running an inverter and a 500w halogen light

Inverter and carbon pile for testing. Note the ammeter shunt on the back to the right .
Switch is to stop out put while cranking.
The only adjustment I would make is that the alternator drive pulley would be about 6 inches I am working on a source for them.
Update The unit seen on this page has been shipped to a remote location in Mexico to be used in an of grid battery charging system
The 10 si Delco it will replace won't hold up to hard daily use
